The Banff World Media Festival has named Anjali Sud as the first keynote speaker for its 2025 BANFF Summit Series.
The Tubi CEO will take to the stage during the Canadian event, which is held at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff on June 8-11.
Since launching in 2019, the Summit Series has developed into fest’s lead track, spotlighting industry leaders and transformative thinkers in the media and entertainment sectors. Sud, whose free TV and movie streaming platform has over 80 million active monthly viewers, will provide insight into the streaming landscape and color on how her service became one of the fastest-growing platforms in the world.
“Audiences around the globe increasingly value a premium entertainment experience that is also 100% free, fun and reflective of culture,” said Sud. “Tubi has built a large and growing fanbase by putting viewers first, and I’m excited to share our perspective at the Banff World Media Festival this year.”
Prior to Tubi, Sud was CEO of online platform Vimeo and held e-commerce and media roles at Amazon and Time Warner.
“Anjali Sud is a leader whose impact on the media and entertainment industry exemplifies the innovation and bold thinking that BANFF celebrates,” said Sean Cohan, Chair of the Board of Directors, BANFF, and President of Bell Media. “Her insights will set the tone for a dynamic and forward-looking conversation about the future of media.”
Past Summit Series speakers include Rob Wade, Channing Dungey, Bela Bajaria, George Cheeks, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Paula Kerger, Pearlena Igbokwe, Ted Sarandos and Maverick Carter.
“Anjali Sud’s impressive leadership at Tubi is inspiring, and we can’t wait to hear her viewpoints on the global industry, from our main stage,” said Jenn Kuzmyk, Executive Director at Banff World Media Festival. “BANFF is a vital meeting point for film and TV players from across the world, and our team is more focused than ever on bringing the most innovative and exciting business and creative minds to the festival in June.”
Banff, now in its 46th year, is well liked by execs for its intimate, retreat-style setting and access to top-level execs and creative minds. It includes the Rockie Awards, the Summit Series, Master Classes and Showrunner Superpanels.
The Streaming Wars is intentionally ad-free
We don’t run display ads. Not because we can’t, but because we don’t believe in them.
They interrupt the reading experience. They cheapen the work. And they burn advertisers’ money on impressions nobody actually wants.
So we chose a different model.
We say the things people in this industry are already thinking but don’t say out loud. We connect the dots beyond the headline and focus on explaining why things matter to the people working in this business.
If you believe industry coverage can exist without clutter and interruption, you can support it here → SUPPORT TSW.
Support is optional. But it directly funds research and continued coverage — and helps prove this model can work.
