Cineverse Launches AI Rights Management Platform to Boost Revenue and Ethical AI Practices

Cineverse has unveiled Matchpoint Reel Visuals AI, a cutting-edge artificial intelligence rights management service aimed at empowering content owners to monetize their assets by supplying them for AI training. The new service supports feature films, television shows, podcasts, and other media formats, catering to the growing demand for large-scale audio and video datasets required by AI models.

Matchpoint enables independent production companies, studios, and aggregators to partner with leading AI platforms, ensuring fair compensation through non-exclusive revenue-sharing agreements. Cineverse CEO Chris McGurk emphasized the company’s role in bridging content creators with opportunities in the burgeoning AI training dataset market, which was valued at $2.6 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to $10.3 billion by 2030.

“We are helping to ensure that those who control the underlying rights to films and TV shows used to train AI models are compensated fairly while leveraging our technology to reduce costs,” said McGurk. He added that Cineverse has secured rights for over 350,000 hours of content in just six to eight weeks, highlighting the market’s potential and the company’s leadership.

Cineverse has implemented stringent ethical guidelines to ensure that content is exclusively used for AI training and not for other purposes like web scraping or unauthorized reproduction. “The large language models can’t use it for anything other than AI training,” McGurk clarified.

The move comes amidst growing concerns in Hollywood and other industries over AI’s use of copyrighted material. The Writers Guild of America recently criticized studios for failing to protect intellectual property rights in generative AI models. By proactively addressing these concerns, Cineverse positions itself as a leader in fostering equitable and ethical practices for AI content procurement.

Tony Huidor, COO and CTO of Cineverse, described the platform as a complete end-to-end solution, providing efficiencies such as fast ingestion, normalization, and storage of large volumes of video content. “We are stepping into an important leadership role by establishing a much-needed framework that will ensure that intellectual property rights are respected, and content owners are properly compensated,” Huidor stated.

In addition to Matchpoint, Cineverse has enhanced its Matchpoint platform with AI-driven tools such as cineSearch, which simplifies content discovery, and AI-powered captioning and localization through a partnership with XL8. These innovations, recognized as transformative advancements in Media Play News’ “2024’s Top Transformative Triumphs in AI,” highlight Cineverse’s commitment to accessibility and personalization for global audiences.

With its extensive library of over 70,000 titles and years of experience as a content aggregator, Cineverse has expanded its capabilities to meet the demands of the AI era. By offering a unified framework for rights management and ethical AI content use, Cineverse is not only redefining entertainment distribution but also helping shape the future of AI training with respect for intellectual property and fair compensation for creators.

The Streaming Wars is intentionally ad-free

We don’t run display ads. Not because we can’t, but because we don’t believe in them.

They interrupt the reading experience. They cheapen the work. And they burn advertisers’ money on impressions nobody actually wants.

So we chose a different model.

We say the things people in this industry are already thinking but don’t say out loud. We connect the dots beyond the headline and focus on explaining why things matter to the people working in this business.

If you believe industry coverage can exist without clutter and interruption, you can support it here → SUPPORT TSW.

Support is optional. But it directly funds research and continued coverage — and helps prove this model can work.
