The Streaming Wars: New Centralized Hub for Streaming Media Professionals, Founded by Streaming Video Entrepreneur Kirby Grines

West Palm Beach, FL — July 17, 2024 — The Streaming Wars, a platform for media and entertainment industry professionals, has launched its website, bringing a wealth of curated news, insights, and analysis to the forefront. Founded by renowned streaming video entrepreneur Kirby Grines, this platform is designed to streamline the overwhelming amount of industry information into a centralized, easy-to-navigate hub.

Kirby Grines, founder and CEO of 43Twenty, conceptualized the idea for The Streaming Wars platform during his tenure at Float Left, the app development company he previously founded. Recognizing the challenge of keeping up with the myriad of news outlets and industry insights, Kirby built an internal tool, referred to as “The Terminal,” to aggregate and curate the most relevant information. Initially intended for personal use, this tool has been continuously refined over the past 15 years, incorporating machine learning and AI to filter content by themes and topics critical to business strategy, product development, and marketing.

“The good news is there are so many great outlets that report on media and entertainment,” said Kirby. “The bad news is there are so many great outlets that report on media and entertainment. When I first got into this space, I found it too time-consuming to keep up. I could easily spend 20 hours a week reading the trades. In 2009, I built a tool that made my life easier. With this launch, now everyone has access to it.”

Initially launched as a newsletter in 2018, The Streaming Wars has now expanded into a full-fledged website. This evolution offers a consumer-facing version of the tool that Kirby has relied on for years. The platform features a mix of curated news from various sources, original content, in-depth analysis, and plans to include podcasts and other media offerings. Additionally, it will host directories for vendor services and streaming services, an events calendar, and much more.

Float Left was acquired in 2019, leading Kirby to focus on 43Twenty, a marketing agency that is now the parent company of The Streaming Wars.

About The Streaming Wars

The Streaming Wars is a platform offering curated news, insights, and original content for professionals in the media and entertainment industry. Founded by Kirby Grines, it aims to streamline access to industry information.

The Streaming Wars is intentionally ad-free

We don’t run display ads. Not because we can’t, but because we don’t believe in them.

They interrupt the reading experience. They cheapen the work. And they burn advertisers’ money on impressions nobody actually wants.

So we chose a different model.

We say the things people in this industry are already thinking but don’t say out loud. We connect the dots beyond the headline and focus on explaining why things matter to the people working in this business.

If you believe industry coverage can exist without clutter and interruption, you can support it here → SUPPORT TSW.

Support is optional. But it directly funds research and continued coverage — and helps prove this model can work.
