Gracenote and Amagi Link Up to Accelerate FAST Content Monetization

Nielsen’s Gracenote has partnered with Amagi to simplify and accelerate the process for content owners looking to enter the Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) market. This collaboration will leverage both companies’ strengths—Gracenote’s industry-leading metadata enrichment services and Amagi’s cloud-based SaaS technology—to create a seamless experience for content publishers looking to monetize their assets through FAST platforms.

With this new integration, Amagi users will have access to select Gracenote products, allowing for the faster ingestion and normalization of content metadata at the earliest stages of the FAST channel creation process. This means content publishers can more efficiently manage their programming and ensure it reaches the largest possible audience while also benefiting from enhanced content discoverability across major FAST platforms. The enriched metadata will allow for more accurate and engaging descriptions, ultimately driving higher audience engagement and improving advertising monetization.

Tim Cutting, Gracenote’s Chief Revenue Officer, noted, “FAST represents the next chapter of streaming, and content metadata is the key driver of engagement fueling this evolution. Our collaboration with Amagi holistically helps content publishers accelerate FAST go-to-market so they can capitalize on the opportunity and drive monetization now.”

Amagi Co-founder and CRO, KA Srinivasan, echoed the sentiment: “By integrating Gracenote’s industry-leading metadata enrichment and normalization services into our cloud-based playout and content delivery workflow, we’re enabling content owners to bring their programming to audiences more efficiently than ever before. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in streamlining the FAST channel creation and distribution process.”

Tying in the Bigger Picture

Earlier this month, we reported on Gracenote’s launch of its new Watch Prompts dataset, a tool designed to enhance video platform engagement through machine learning and human editorial expertise. This dataset offers personalized content highlights and comparisons to guide viewers’ decisions—a critical innovation in a market where 74% of consumers struggle to decide what to watch, as reported by Nielsen.

The partnership with Amagi further amplifies Gracenote’s mission to optimize content discoverability and engagement. Gracenote is pushing boundaries in streamlining content distribution while maximizing viewer retention and advertising revenue by combining metadata enrichment at the FAST distribution level with tools like Watch Prompts.
