Curiosity Inc. has secured a new multi-tier distribution agreement with DIRECTV that significantly boosts the availability of its nonfiction programming to millions of U.S. households. The deal adds both subscription and free streaming options for viewers, marking a major step in Curiosity’s domestic growth strategy.
Under the agreement, DIRECTV customers can now access CuriosityStream as a $5-per-month add-on to their existing subscription. This SVOD service offers thousands of documentaries, series, and specials covering science, technology, history, and exploration. At the same time, Curiosity NOW, the company’s free ad-supported streaming channel, has joined MyFree DIRECTV, delivering 24/7 factual programming at no additional cost.
The partnership strengthens Curiosity’s U.S. distribution footprint by tapping DIRECTV’s national scale across both streaming and satellite. It also positions the company to benefit from the industry’s push toward diversified monetization models, offering premium SVOD content alongside a growing FAST presence.
“This is a pivotal moment for Curiosity as we expand our U.S. reach across FAST and SVOD in one comprehensive agreement,” said Jay Sodha, Curiosity’s VP of Business Development and Partnerships. “DIRECTV’s scale, brand strength, and evolving platform strategy makes it the perfect partner to help us deliver smart, inspiring, and entertaining content to viewers wherever they are and however they choose to watch.”
With this move, Curiosity continues to capitalize on the growing appetite for factual entertainment, ensuring its library of award-winning titles is accessible to audiences through multiple viewing formats.
