DIRECTV has launched its native app on LG Smart TVs running webOS 6.0 or higher (2021 models and newer). The integration allows DIRECTV subscribers to access the full spectrum of its offerings, including live TV, on-demand content, Genre Packs, and over 100 FAST channels, without needing an external streaming device or set-top box.
This rollout brings LG in line with other major platforms like Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Google TV, where the DIRECTV app has been available for some time. Now, LG users can launch DIRECTV directly from the Content Store and start streaming Signature plans, genre-based channel bundles, and ad-supported content via MyFree DIRECTV with minimal setup.
Vikash Sharma, Head of Product at DIRECTV, emphasized the company’s push toward platform ubiquity: “Making DIRECTV available as a native app on LG TVs gives customers more choice and flexibility in how they enjoy our full lineup.”
On LG’s side, the integration underscores a continued focus on eliminating hardware barriers. “We’re excited to deepen our alliance with DIRECTV,” said Matthew Durgin, VP of Content and Services at LG Electronics. “This further enhances our LG Smart TV experience and delivers exceptional value to our customers without the need for a set-top box.”
The Signature plan, which includes access to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, starts at $95 per month, with promotional pricing dropping it to $85 per month for 24 months for new users. Genre Packs, which cater to specific interests like sports, entertainment, or Spanish-language programming, start as low as $20 per month.
The key play here: seamless access. LG owners can now opt into the full DIRECTV ecosystem, including satellite users via TV Everywhere, directly through their TV. No dongles. No boxes. Just an app.
